Random 5 Friday

From the rising of the sun to its setting
The name of the Lord is to be praised.

The Lord is high above all nations;

His glory is above the heavens.
Psalm 113:3-4

1. A stunning sunset the other night, painted by The Master Artist. The treeline looked like fire, it was glowing so brilliantly. Honestly, I don't think I will ever get tired of seeing this view.

2. Just about 30 minutes before this photo was taken, four Black Hawk helicopters and a C130 refueling plane flew so low over our home that the windows rattled and the entire house shook. Of course, we jumped up and ran out to the porch to see the magnificent sight. I took pictures but they didn't come out very well.

3. I was very sad to read in the paper the next day that a Black Hawk, carrying three soldiers, made a 'hard' landing at a base in GA and one death occurred. They were returning from a routine training mission. My heart is heavy for this soldier's family.

4. My son's Digital Photography class is going well. He is happy to share what he is learning and it's kind of fun to have a kindred spirit in the home. I guess he is much like me, as he loves books too!

5. Speaking of books...I've read three in the last two weeks. They are all different and I think it will  be difficult to write a review for one of them. The dilemma is I am (or was) a hard core fan of the author's past works. She was off the scene for a few years and now that she is back, I am not enjoying her stories much at all. The second book is easy peasy to write a review for. I always enjoy a good prairie romance (think Janette Oke books). Then the last one...whew! My absolute favorite author kept me from much needed sleep! I still have two or three more that I need to read and review before the end of the month, so just a heads up. There will probably be an influx of reviews over the next week or two :)

  7. It is a bummer when a favorite author goes downhill. I used to love James Patterson but had to stop reading him ten years ago when his books lost substance.

    1. Hey Lisa, It has been a great disappointment to me but there are others who love the new books. It really is such a personal thing :) I've never read James Patterson.

  8. That is a glorious sunset. The sky looks like it's on fire. The colors are stunning. I am sad to hear of the Blackhawk landing. Our SIL is training to be a helicopter pilot and those reports are always disturbing.

  9. I like the Psalm you posted today, Anne! The Master Artist does some beautiful work. It's important for us to stop and take notice.

    Good Luck with your crafting and reading. If I see the cleaning fairy I will send her your way.

  10. the air traffic has certainly changed around here - not sure why? & i do wonder - i wish they would tell us. i know we are not the president but it sure would ease my mind knowing some of the reason why they fall so close & shake the windows so. seems very odd & strange to me. ( :
