A junk man, a weird egg, blossoms and more ~ Rural Thursday

This week I took a lot of pictures. I mean, I begged my husband for a camera over a year ago and mostly just take pictures of the grand babies. But I am beginning to see there are other things, fun & weird, that need to be documented.

So I started with the apricot tree blossoms...

a really weird egg that looks like it is ready to split open...

our front door bell (porch is under construction, hence the missing siding & floor)...

sign we hung on the wall of the front porch...

some wild turkeys...
I know its hard to see them but they were there :)

and then this one...
Sometimes a picture really is worth a thousand words!

That wasn't all the strange stuff this week but it was a good start! I think I carried my camera everywhere I went. Now I just need to learn how to edit them.

I hope you're all having a great time in your prospective rural places!

Images are mine. Please don't take them without asking. Not that anyone would want them. I'm just sayin'.

    1. We think he was headed to the scrap yard. People actually steal stuff like that around here! We kind of love our doorbell too. My brother nicknamed our place Green Acres many years ago and it seemed to suit :)

  4. Geez, could that guy fit any more stuff on that truck bed? Lol.

Cute dinner/door bell. I have a small one with a rooster on top. :)

    1. My first thought when I saw the truck was, Oh my gosh, only in the country!

Yes, the "cow bell" makes a great dinner bell, especially in the summer!

  6. Couldn't find an email to email you at so here I am answering your question about how I did the bright blue Pepsi can against the black and white background.

It was easy! I used Picasa3. I just selected the picture I wanted to edit and went to the Effects tab and clicked Focal B&W.

I wish people would take the time to consider what putting their garbage in a can would do for the environment.

Thanks for visiting my blog, I hope you'll come again!

  9. Huh...I wonder why the egg has a groove in it? My hens come up with these oddballs every once in awhile. I think they do it just to see if I'm paying attention.

Love your sign on your porch. I've been looking all over the place for an old chicken feed sign and haven't been able to find one.

    1. We've had some odd eggs over the years but never one like this one.... totally striated marks & weird.

I think the sign was purchased at Kirkland's years ago but I'd have to ask my husband. He'll remember for sure :)
